Editorial Policy

How American Labels selects topics, evaluates sources, separates evidence from judgment, handles disclosures, and corrects published work.

American Labels helps small brands, packaging buyers, operations teams, and designers specify labels for particular products and environments. Our work starts with a practical question: what does this product and application actually require from the label? We focus on the factors that change the answer, including the container, application method, material, adhesive, size, finish, and expected exposure.

How we select and use sources

We match the source to the claim. For technical or time-sensitive details, we prioritize current primary documentation from label-material, adhesive, film, laminate, container, and applicator manufacturers, alongside relevant packaging guidance. Environmental and food-contact claims are checked against the specific material and intended application, not treated as broad properties.

We distinguish the parts of a label construction, including face stock, adhesive, liner, coating, laminate, and ink. Changeable details such as product capabilities, prices, turnaround times, and policies should come from current first-party information. Secondary sources and user discussions can provide context or flag practical issues, but they do not replace direct documentation for specifications or supplier policies.

Attribution and editorial judgment

When the source of a claim matters, we identify supplier or manufacturer statements as such. Research findings are presented as research. Editorial conclusions are reasoned judgments based on available evidence and the reader’s use case—not guarantees of performance in every package or environment. Documented firsthand work may be described with its original conditions attached. We do not claim testing, credentials, professional accreditation, commercial relationships, or personal experience without supporting documentation.

Artwork and commercial disclosures

Editorial artwork is illustration, not documentary proof. Documentary photographs, screenshots, data, and other source material should be identified. Sponsorships, affiliate arrangements, ownership interests, and other relevant commercial relationships are disclosed when documented, with the disclosure attached to the content they affect.

Corrections and updates

We update published work when specifications, policies, regulations, or other material facts change. Readers can report a possible error by emailing contact@americanlabels.net. Please include the article URL, the passage in question, and supporting evidence. We assess the information against the most direct, current source available and correct or clarify the article when warranted.
